A Miracle of Perseverance (11 of 16)
Series: The Miracles of Luke
Richard Bradley
Luke 18:35-43
In this text we are introduced to someone who refused to be denied his miracle. I supposed He needed a miracle as much or more than anyone in Luke's Gospel. He was blind. In Jesus' day a blind man's plight was pretty much hopeless. Some years ago I had cataracts removed and artificial lens implanted. My doctor said that if I didn't have the surgery I would eventually go blind. No such medical help was available in Jesus' day. Heaven was his only hope.
This man refused to be denied his miracle. His perseverance was the key. They tried to get him to shut up but he just kept asking and this is exactly what the Lord wants every one of us to do in approaching His throne of Grace.
THIS MIRACLE OF PERSEVERANCE WAS BASED ON ANXIETY
35 Then it happened, as He was coming near Jericho, that
a certain blind man
sat by the road begging.
No one could dispute the fact that this blind beggar was in a desperate situation. Because of his physical condition he found himself in a situation for which there was no remedy. As long as we think we can affect some change in our situation we will at least feel hopeful. In difficult times we cope by developing and laying out a plan or course of action to remedy our situation. In this man's situation there would be no course of action except to live each day as best he could.
As God's people, we must know that just because we can't develop a plan of action it doesn't mean God Almighty can't. God's got a plan for your life no matter how hopeless your situation appears to be. Trust His plan. I guarantee you it will turn out a lot better than yours. ...
