Joshua 24:15

Psalm 127:1 (ESV) Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.

Most of the time we see this passage in the context of building the church.

This morning, I want to talk and teach about building your house in the context of family.

First of all, I am not coming at this from the place of having a perfect family or being raised in a perfect family.

Many of you know my testimony, I was raised in an incredibly dysfunctional family, blended family, fractured family and whatever else you could imagine. (I still have to think for a couple minutes if someone asks me how many siblings I have. I am one of 11 and 3 of my siblings I didn't know I had until I was over 35.)

Secondly, I want you to know that God doesn't give up on dysfunction, and there are plenty of families in the Bible that were broken, bruised and blended... and God used them.

The very first family that God put together fell in sin, had one son kill the other son. So, family life started out pretty rough!

Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord and then promptly got naked drunk in his new vineyard and ended up cursing his son who didn't honor him.

Joseph ''lorded'' it over his brothers, they sold him into slavery and the redemptive plan of God allowed his whole family to survive a famine in Egypt.

Abraham lied about his wife...(and he was chosen to bless all the families of the earth) and then his son Isaac did the same thing!

And you don't even want to go into King David's family!

This morning I want you to know that there is hope, there is purpose and no matter where you are in the dynamic of your family, if you submit to God you can put into practice some things that will help you move from dysfunction to function and broken to healing!

If you read a manual and there was a continued reference ...
