2 Corinthians 9: 6-15
Review: God is our provider and owns everything. We are stewards, we are managers of God's money. Heaven is our ultimate home and we should store up treasures there, for its forever, this is not. Our giving here has a real impact here, and a real impact on eternity. Ultimately what we do with money both reveals and directs our heart.
This week let's lay down some principles for generosity. We've talked about how we need to be generous and that we need to live for Heaven not earth, but what does that look like? What does generosity look like? What principles should guide my giving, what truths do I need to be aware of?
In 2 Corinthians Paul is addresses the Corinthians about an offering they had committed to. He is encouraging them to see this offering through. It was going to help needy Christians in some areas Paul was ministering to. Chapters 8 and 9 carry in them some great principles on generosity this is the most extensive teaching on giving in the NT. While Paul was teaching about a particular offering that is being taken up, the teaching applicable to generosity in general. In Chapter 9:6 he begins to boil it all down to the big ideas.

I like what JD Greear said, ''Giving is not something God wants from you as much as FOR YOU.'' -- You can see that in this passage. -- Giving is what God wants for you. It's GOOD FOR US TO GIVE. This passage drips with the blessing that is generosity.
One interesting note is that in these two chapters the grace of God is mentioned 10 X's. The fundamental working principle throughout this section is that giving is a grace issue.
It's a work of God's grace in us, through us, for us and others. When God's grace is poured into your lives it fills you up and overflows in generosity.
