It Will Be Worth It All
Donald Cantrell
Romans 8: 18
This sermon deals with suffering, affliction, troubles, trials, and how we deal with them in the face of eternity. The things that we face down here are merely temporal and in the light of eternity, they are nothing!!! We need to look a little bit higher than the earthly as we face heartache and difficulty, our goal is to cross the finish line and heaven will fix it all.
Rom 8:18 KJV - For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
I - Paul's Present Experiences (18a)
II - Paul's Past Enlightenment (Acts 20: 22 - 23)
III - Paul's Positive Examination (18b)
IV - Paul's Prevailing Expectation (2 Cor. 4: 17 - 18)
Theme: ''The present suffering is nothing compared to the bliss of heaven''
An Experiment with Rats Undergoing Hardship
A number of years ago researchers performed an experiment to see the affect hope has on those undergoing hardship. Two sets of laboratory rats were placed in separate tubs of water. The researchers left one set in the water, and found that within an hour they had all drowned. The other rats were periodically lifted out of the water and then returned.
When that happened, the second set of rats swam for over 24 hours. Why? Not because they were given a rest, but because they suddenly had hope! Those animals somehow hoped that if they could stay afloat just a little longer, someone would reach down and rescue them. If hope holds such power for unthinking rodents, how much greater should its effect be on our lives.
