Psalm 95
We desire to be a disciple making church. A disciple is a Christ follower and there are three core parts of the disciples life... Worship, Community, and Mission. Worship is the first element on our list when we talk about that because at the core... that's what you and I are. We are worshippers. Augustine said, ''our hearts are restless until they find their rest in thee.''--
Because you were created and didn't create yourself that means you exist for a purpose outside yourself. You can't believe in creation and not believe you were made to for worship.--
For instance, if we look at a great work of art and talk about how beautiful and exquisite it is and never make the connection to the artist and his or her talents and never appreciate that we've missed something. We would never assume the art made itself... its a creation... and all of its beauty testifies to the creative talents of another... it derived its glory from the artist. --- We are creations. We did not make ourselves. We are the art, not the artist. Our beauty is derived from Another. So we all naturally worship... ... but we unlike the painting... make choices... and we can choose who we point to and ascribe worth to. This morning I want us to look at Psalm 95 together and I want us to see what this Psalm says about worship. We are going to look 3 key ideas in this psalm about worship... Revelation, Response, and Rest.
