Exodus 20:15 - You Shall Not Steal.

The Word of the Lord.

I know what you are thinking. You are thinking, ''He forgot it was Mother's Day. At first, he forgot that it was Easter and preached on ''honoring your Father and Mother'', which he actually could have preached on Mother's Day, and now that it is Mother's Day, and his passage is You shall not steal.'' Well, I didn't forget that it was Mother's Day, and actually this passage, this command, this rule has a lot to say to Mothers.

Two of the things that I think every parent wants for their children, and of course that I really want for my children, is that they would be content, i.e., that they would be able to be happy with where they are and who they are in life, and that they would respect others, i.e., that they would really love and care for others and respect them. This rule has so much to say about both of those things - being content and respecting what other people have and what God has entrusted to others.

So, happy Mother's Day. I am grateful for Paige, my wife, who is the mother of our children and who is not here today because she is heading to the beach with her mother and sisters. Pro-tip guys - when you have a 7, 5, and 3-year old, sometimes the best thing you can do on Mother's Day is to let your wife get away from her kids. So, you guys wish me luck this week. Thankfully my mother, who I'm very grateful for and who I am especially grateful for this week, is coming to help me. As a mother, you have a huge responsibility to shape and form your children. If they are ever going to live in God's order, they have to learn contentment and respect, and if they don't learn that in one way or another, they will likely become thieves. So, let's get to work.
