You Shall Not Bear False Witness Against Your Neighbor

This is God's Word.
One of The New York Times big tag lines recently has just been, ''The Truth. We tell the Truth.'' The truth is Hard but we are willing to tell it. The Truth is Worth It. The Washington Post has the tagline ''Now Demand The Truth.'' Fox News has a new Slogan ''Real News. Real Honest Opinion.'' This of course is interesting because The New York Times is a Newspaper, and Fox News is TV Journalism. Like shouldn't it be a given that they tell the truth?
This idea of being real or being true is big right now. People are struggling to know, what can I believe? What is real? Who can I trust?
If you have been with us over the past 8 weeks, you know that we have been in a series on the 10 Commandments, and we are calling these the ''10 Rules.'' What I have wanted you to see is that these ''10 Rules'' are really the foundation of life and society.
Authority
Covenant
Integrity
Rhythm
Order
Sanctity
Faithfulness
Contentment
If there is no authority, then there is no order, and if there is no order, then nothing is sacred, and if nothing is sacred then there is no sense of covenant or integrity, and if there is no rhythm there won't be faithfulness or contentment. Without any of these things, you can have no society; you can have no structure or no meaningful relationships. Without these rules everything begins to fall apart, and that is certainly true of the 9th rule... the rule of truth -You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. There are two parts to this command. The first is the idea of truth vs falsehood, and the second is about your neighbor. This command implies a concern for others.
