ILLUS. - This morning at the end of our service some of our preschool children will be sining. My son is one of those this morning so I preach with a little extra anxiety. -- Cannon's 4 and it's amazing at this age how quickly and easy these kids make friends. Already, in preschool they have people they are better friends with than others. It's just life. From an early age we seek out and value friendship. -- All of Preschool parents this morning are just hoping our kids are the good kind of friend, and don't grow up to be the kind our parents always warned us about. -- Friendship is tricky, its rife with the potential for helping or hurting, blessing, or being taken advantage of.

Most of my childhood memories are tied to friendships. -- Either with family members or friends. -- I think back to the funniest stories, the greatest moments, the worst times... they all have people, friendships, relationships attached to them. Why? We are relational. We are made for relationship, community... and yes... FRIENDSHIP.

We are in a series on wisdom in Proverbs called Uncommon Sense. Wisdom is more than common sense, but it's an uncommon sense. We don't see a lot of wisdom in our world today at times. People live life without submitting to God and seeking His guidance. -- It's not different in friendship or topic this morning, and important one that Proverbs deals with.?

Prov. 18:24- A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

You and I are are created for connection.- You were made for community.

Gen. 1-2 we learn how God has wired us. The Bible says after God made the first man, Adam, that he said ''it is not good for man to be alone.''

Imago Dei- Genesis actually teaches we are made in God's image. We are made to resemble and represent God. We learn in the Bible that God is a Trinity. The Father, Son, and Holy Sp ...
