JESUS CHRIST died as a quivering corpse on a cosmopolitan tree.
Three days later at the tomb where He had been buried there was
a play of light that frightened the fearless Roman guards with
frozen fascination.
The grave stone was rolled away, brushed aside by angelic might,
and out of the house of death comes forth alive the crucified
Christ, girded with power, the conqueror of death and Lord of
life. On the territory of the grave He delivered His immortal
inaugural:
"I am He who was dead and am alive, and lo, I live forever."
"BECAUSE I LIVE YOU SHALL LIVE ALSO!"
Are you alive, really alive, or just living?
The impact made by the resurrection on the early Christians was
not intended to be lessened by the passing of time.
The resurrection proved that Christ had not been disproved as
Immanuel, God with us. Ends are always present in beginnings no
matter how small or insignificant they may seem.
The impossibility of His virgin birth made inevitable the fact
of His seemingly impossible resurrection. Having defied the laws
of life by His virgin birth it was logical He would defy the
laws of death by resurrection.
