Pride (1 of 5)
Series: Dying Inside - Killing the Sins that are Killing You

Daniel 4:1-37

Today we begin a new series called ''Dying Inside.'' The truth is all sin starts in the heart, yet some sins are so subtle that they can be in our heart and those around us rarely see it. We can literally be dying in side from these poisonous sins and people not even realize its a problem. In fact, WE may not even realize we have a problem.

Today we are dealing with the sin of pride. Pride is known as one of the seven deadly sins. It destroys. It ruins lives, relationships, dreams, jobs, churches. Pride is kills.

She said, ''Well, when I look in the mirror I think I'm beautiful.'' He said, ''Young lady, that's not a sin that's a mistake!''

God hates pride. He doesn't just dislike it, HE HATES IT. - Prov. 8:13- ''The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perverted speech I hate.''

Both James and 1 Peter tell us God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

The Bible also says pride is destructive. - Prov. 16:18- Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

Prov. 29:23- One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.

The interesting thing is that the chapter is written by King Nebuchadnezzar! This is the guy that had Shadrack and the boys thrown into the fiery furnace! Now he's writing Scripture!
