Genesis 4:1-16

Sometime around the end of this year or the beginning of next year as you know Kristi and I are awaiting the birth of our second child, a little girl. Now we are excited. We love children, and there is not really a better Christmas present than a child. Now... I hope Cannon, our son, is excited. I don't really know... but I hope he is. Cannon and our daughter will be about two years apart. Which means they can play together and share friends. It also means they will go to school together, be separated by two grades. I grew up with a younger sister, who is about 3 years younger than me. Here is what I remember about being young with a little sister... we fought.. a lot. I remember a time or two, my mom would have us hold hands and walk around in the yard and say ''I love my brother, I love my sister.'' --- If you want to get your children to stop fighting, do that. Make them love each other. Now, I do love my sister but as children we can be very childish. - Now, what my family had in it... what Cannon's family has in it, what your family has in it... that sometimes causes selfishness is SIN. Sin has infected every family. It started with Adam and Eve. This morning we see the direct result of Adam's sin. It has infected his family. His children, his offspring, are sinners like him now. And what we see here is two sons... this is not a story of sibling rivalry... its a story of the effects of sin on the the human heart.
