THE CULTURAL WAR: BATTLEFIELD, TV AND MOVIES
MATTHEW 6: 22, 23


JESUS CHRIST said, "The lamp of the body is the eye. If
therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of
light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of
darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how
great is that darkness" (Matthew 6: 22, 23).

Hollywood has a target and the bullseye is you. Encircling the
bullseye at the heart of the target is the family.
When you go to the average movie or watch certain TV you are
going to a battlefield. Your mind is under siege. Your moral
values are under assault. In spiritual warfare few battles are
more absorbing or entertaining.
There is a graphic illustration of what has happened in this
arena which reveals the strategy employed by the media.
Recently a movie by Scorcasi entitled "Cape Fear" was released.
The same movie was previously made by another director in 1962.
In the 1962 version the family was under attack by a villain.
The father nobly struggled to defend his family.
In the 1962 version the family was headed by a good man who was
affectionate toward his family. He was unselfish and cared about
others. Though his moral and ethical standards were high there
was no direct reference to religious faith.
In the 1992 version the father was abusive and harsh, not caring
as in 1962. He was self-centered.
In the 1962 version there was no reference to the villain having
any religious values. In the 1992 version the villain was
depicted as wearing a cross and being a religious fanatic.
Note the three areas under attack:
MARRIAGE, ROLE Models (HEROS), AND RELIG ...
