Running Hot (2 of 4)
Series: Refuel
James Merritt
Psalm 100
Welcome to those watching online and to those at our campuses.
Introduction
1. I hate to begin with a depressing thought, but it is also the reason why I know this series is a must for all of us. According to a Gallup poll, Americans by a large margin say their least favorite month of the year is January.[1] It is the crash after the ultimate high of basically a month-long celebration of Christmas. What is worse, for whatever the reason, psychologist now say that the most depressing day of the year is January 24th and that doubles if the 24th falls on a Monday.[2] We are angry because of the debt we've incurred over Christmas. We have already broken all of our new year resolutions and we simply don't want to go back to work.
2. What we need is to refuel, recharge, reenergize, and reengage so our series that we are calling ''refuel'' is to help you do just that. Last week we shared with you the best way to start on a daily basis to recharge your batteries is to get into the ultimate battery charger which is god's word. Today, we are going to take it up a notch and I want to share with you one thing that I have learned by experience that keeps my battery charged, that keeps me optimistic, that keeps me joyful, that keeps me energized, and keeps me in the game and that is worship.
3. [remind Teresa you want to bring digital thermometer that bought for the kids as a prop]
Not long ago because of our grandchildren, we bought the neatest little technological gadget. It is a thermometer. You just stick it close to your forehead and it automatically registers your temperature. What I am going to ask you to do right now is to take your temperature. I don't mean your physical temperature, but your spiritual temperature.
