Introduction

1. I don't know that I've ever met anyone in my life that if they were honest that is not deathly afraid of something. If we are all honest, deep down, we all have a phobia of something. Maybe it is snakes. Maybe it is the dark. Maybe it is being enclosed. I am going to share with you today, for the first time, my biggest fear. In fact, there is a technical term for it and I have it. It is called klatarismenophobia. I had never heard of it, but I have it. I've had it ever since I started driving a car. Do you know what it is? The fear of flat tires.

2. About two years ago, my worst fear came true, not far from here in the sugarloaf subdivision. I had gone out there to play golf with a friend and I was driving out of the subdivision when I began to hear this thump, thump, thump, thump and I pulled into a driveway and I had a flat tire. Someone said, ''there is no panic in heaven, just plans.'' for me, when I have a flat tire there is no plans - just panic.

3. What did I do? What I've done for 40+ years. I called Teresa! I said, ''what do I do?'' she said, ''jack up the car and change the tire.'' I said, ''where is the jack?'' she said, ''it is in your trunk.'' I said, ''how do you use it?'' she said, ''read the manual.'' it was a brutally hot summer day and I am sitting in front of a mansion, with a flat tire, reading a manual on how to use a jack. I was sweating profusely, not because of the heat, but because of the fear I had of looking like an idiot by all the people that were driving by.

4. It took me half-an-hour to find the jack. It took me another fifteen minutes to get the jack out of the trunk and then it took me another twenty minutes to find out how to operate the jack in the manual. I was literally almost ready to cry when this thought hit me, ''why don't you pray about it?'' I looked up ...
