Next week we begin a new series in Philippians called ''Filled with Joy.'' It's a book written by a man filled with joy and he tells the people he is writing to rejoice as well. Its not a book about a man with no problems, he's in jail, but he is joyous. It's also time change Sunday and you get an extra hour of sleep. That's a great week to invite someone to church. Come tonight to Trunk or Treat, make a friend, and invite them to our new series starting next week.
This week: ''What is Heaven Going to be like?''--- Heaven is a place that evokes curiosity. Everybody has questions... and as Kenny Chesney put it, ''everybody wants to go to Heaven but nobody wants to go now.''
With all the talk and writing about Heaven and movies even over the last decade... don't be one of those Christians that gets more excited about someone's subjective experience than you do about what God's said. God's Word is sufficient to tell us what we need to know about Heaven. I'd encourage you to save your $10 or $20 and read your Bible.
A Lifeway study released last year revealed that 67% of Americans believe in Heaven and 61% in Hell. Even 37% of non-Christians believe in Heaven. --- But that means there is a lot of folks who don't believe in Heaven, and a lot who believe in it but are not headed there according to the Bible.
What does the Bible say about this place? Is it a real literal place?
Heaven now- The Bible teaches that when a born-again believer in Christ dies he/she immediately enters the presence of God.
2 Cor. 5:8- ''Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.''
