Genesis 37

ILLUS. What would you call your autobiography or memoir? St. Augustine called His the Confessions of St. Augustine, Steve Martin called his Born Standing Up, Katherine Hepburns' was Me, Nelson Mandela's was Long Walk to Freedom, Jay Leno's is Leading with My Chin, and David Hasselhoff's is Don't Hassle the Hoff. - What would your's be? What sums you up?

If Joseph would have written an autobiography toward the end of his life he may have titled it... ''God is with Me.'' - That is in essence the theme of Joseph's life, that God was with him. In fact, in Acts 17 Stephen, the first martyr is preaching before his death and he says...

Acts 7:9-10- ''And the patriarchs, jealous of Joseph, sold him into Egypt; but God was with him 10 and rescued him out of all his afflictions and gave him favor and wisdom before Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who made him ruler over Egypt and over all his household.

Joseph's story is one filled with brokenness, pain, betrayal, temptation, success, being forgotten, being forsaken and being exalted... it's like an incredible made for TV movie.

He was at work and even showing Joseph favor. He was with Joseph in a special way to accomplish His purpose. Joseph is going to suffer unjustly, and but in the end God is going to work through his situation to bring about the salvation of many.

In the NT we learn that though believers go through many trials, temptations, pain and suffering... that ultimately God is with us and at work in our lives for our good. He is working to make us more like Christ and to use us in His redemptive purposes.

So... Have you ever wondered if God is ''with you?'' And have you ever wondered what that even means for your life ...
