Living Life Free of Bitterness (5 of 5)
Series: God is with Me (The Life of Joseph)
Josh Malone
Genesis 50:15-21
Today we close out our series on the life of Joseph. - Today we are going to get a look at Joseph's heart and see that with all he went through there was no bitterness, no grudges, no sour attitude. He had no bitterness toward God or man. God had done a great work in Joseph.
Years ago at a conference I heard the late great Dr. John Phillips preach. He pointed out how God only spends a couple of chapters explaining creation, and just a few words on something as magnificent as the stars. But when you get to the life of Joseph, a man many consider one of the most godly characters of all the Bible, he devotes some 12 chapters. Roughly 25% of Genesis involves the life of Joseph. Phillips concluded... ''God is more interested in making saints than stars.''
Believer, God is at work in your life. He takes thought of you, He loves you, He has a purpose for you. - He is working for your good and His glory. - If you are not a follower of Christ.... who wouldn't want to know this God, who wants to be intimately acquainted with your life and working for your good?
Today we are going to see how at the end of Joseph's story he is a man free of bitterness and grudges. --- The same God that allowed Joseph to live this way can do the same for you and me. The good news of Jesus Christ can free us from a life of bitterness, grudges, and harbored anger.
Catch Up: Remember, Joseph's brothers hated Joseph as he was the favored son of their father. They trapped him in a pit and then sold him into slavery. Slave to prison to next to Pharaoh.
Here Jacob has died, bringing about a sort of crisis in the minds of Joseph's brothers.?
Gen. 50:15-21- When Joseph's brothers saw that their father was dead, they said, ''It may be that Joseph will hate us and pay us back for all the evil that we did to him.'' 16 So they sent a message to Joseph, saying, ''Your fa ...
