This sermon deals with the God given biblical role of a father, it is ours and we need to take it back. Society often devalues the role of fatherhood, but God lifts the role up as relevant and important. In this sermon, the reader and the listener will be challenged to honor their father, to respect him and to revere him. On the other hand every father must understand that his role as the leader of his family does not mean that he is to be a Lord over his family.
Harry Chapin wrote a very indicting song that discusses the role of an absentee father and the repercussions of that absence. The absentee father ended up raising an absentee son, that was ''just like him.''
