When it comes to the home... everyone wants harmony in their home. - If we are going to have a society filled with more harmony and less fighting we need harmonious homes.

ILLUS. - Harmony makes everything BETTER. - There is a difference in a musical group that can harmonize and those that can't. - It' s more pleasing to the ear! I couldn't harmonize my way through Old MacDonald, but great singers can really harmonize. - Harmony is all about singing in parts. - You have to sing your part and when everyone does that well... it's sounds great.

In a similar way, a home in harmony... is simply a more PLEASANT HOME. Everyone is doing their part. Everyone is singing their part. It's BETTER.

God wants our homes in harmony as well. He lays out clearly in His Word, particularly Eph. 5 how he wants the home to function. He gives us our parts to sing. He addresses marriage, parenting, and being a child in the home. - But there is a key ingredient, a foundational principle, the secret really to building a harmonious home... and it's found in Eph. 5:21... and also the verses before it.

Eph. 5:15-24- Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.
