John 14:1-11
We live in a world full of options. - Cheesecake factory. Stresses me out. - That menu is a beast. - Some people like LOTS of options. I like options, but not CCF level. - But our culture values options. - Tech, TV, movies, politics, CHURCHES...
And now we live in this very pluralistic society. It's filled with options. - You can be secularist, atheist, agnostic, you can refuse to be put in a category. If you are religious... there are a host of religions. Buddhist, Muslim, and so on.
Our society is filled with options. - In fact, about the worst thing you can do in our society is take options away. - In the business world... you are a monopoly. In the religious world a bigot. - But deep down we all know... sometimes we are faced situations with only one real choice. Sometimes we are thankful a AN OPTION.
When it comes to the ultimate question in life, we don't have an option but rather a way. Oh, there is the appearance of many options, but they are all trap doors, mirages, phony. There is one real option, if we want to live. Only one right answer, one way.
At the end of the day... our deepest longings can't be satisfied with the things of the world or the religions of it... but only in Jesus. He alone is the way, the truth, and the life.
John 14:1-7- Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.'' 5 Thomas said to him, ''Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?'' 6 Jesus said to him, ''I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also. ...
