Series: Free- The Book of Galatians

Galatians 1:1-12

We live in a world of enslavement. People are enslaved to their sin, their passions... people are enslaved to their performance... to dead religion. - The book of Galatians is all about freedom. Freedom from dead religion, from works righteousness, from sin, from earning... freedom in Christ. Freedom that changes you. Freedom that leads to loving and obeying God... from the heart. Freedom that bring joy not burden.

I'm excited about this series as we journey through this book about freedom in Christ. Galatians was written by the Apostle Paul, it was likely the first book he wrote.

Today I want to talk about the gospel that sets us free from Gal. 1:1-12. - The word gospel simply means GOOD NEWS. It's an announcement of what's been DONE. - So the gospel of Jesus is the good news of Jesus... it's the announcement of what Jesus has done. - As Christians we believe the gospel is the good news of what Jesus has done to save sinners. - It's the message of Christianity. - And it's not something that we believe one time and then move on to ''deep'' things. - It is the heart of everything in the Christian life. We never mature beyond the gospel... we mature in it. --- Today's passage is about THE GOSPEL.

It's about the fact that there is only one gospel that can save you, free you. - But there are other gospels that want to promise you freedom, salvation... but they will enslave you, condemn you.

Gal. 1:1-12- Paul, an apostle-not from men nor through man, but through Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead- 2 and all the brothers who are with me,

To the churches of Galatia:

3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
