Galatians 3:1-14
There is a temptation in the Christian life to think that somehow after you become a Christian, that you sort of graduate from grace and now you go to the school of law/works. The temptation is to think you come to Christ by grace through faith but that ultimately to really be ''spiritual'' there must be MORE. - That living the Christian life must different than entering it.
The Bible speaks of salvation as past, present, and future tense.
It's grace through faith start to finish.
A couple of thousand years ago in Galatia they battled this same thought. - The false teachers, they weren't simply saying Paul was wrong. No, they'd say ''It's super Paul taught you about Jesus and faith in Him, but to really be fully ''in'' with God, to really reach completion in your faith... to reach the full maturity of it... you need more... you need add the works of the Law.''
As one person put it... many people think because they don't struggle with understanding you are only saved by grace through faith and not by works that they don't struggle with the issues in Galatians... proving they don't understand the book.- This book is not just about how to be set free from sin's PENALTY, but also by sin's POWER.
You see, you don't get to Heaven by grace through faith. but then get victory over greed, pride, lust, gossip, lying, etc. by simple law and grit. The power to obey comes from the same place as justification. - Grace through faith in Jesus.
Spiritual life has to be given... so does spiritual power.
In Galatians 3 Paul gets into the heart of his fight against the false teaching attacking Galatia. - He wants them to continue in Christ the way they came to Christ.
In the first 6 verses he confronts them in light of their own personal experience. He is saying... surely you know! ALL of salvation is about faith in Christ... look at your ex ...
