Acts is the story of God's Spirit working through God's people to accomplish God's mission.
God uses ordinary, regular Joe's, to accomplish his mission.

Do you know that God wants to use you? You! You may be thinking of all the reasons God doesn't want to use you. If you are breathing... God's got a plan and He wants you in on it.
If you are going to experience God to the fullest, being used by Him for His glory... you have to get on board with what He's up to in the world. Stop inviting and start joining!

ILLUS.- Imagine you're always inviting a friend to go golfing with you or to the movies. They never go. -- Then you find out, golf or the movies isn't their thing. - They really like to go to the beach. -- So you invite them to the beach and they go.

The Spirit of God can move and work anywhere, any location, at work, at play, etc. However, He's not been sent to help you accomplish your goals. - He's been sent to empower you to live on mission.- So if you want to experience His power, get on mission.

Acts 8 introduces us to the ministry of a man named Philip. He's not an apostle. He's going to be the first person Luke shows us who take the gospel outside Jerusalem. We will see God do extraordinary things through this ordinary guy.

Acts 8:4-8- Now those who were scattered went about preaching the word. 5 Philip went down to the city of Samaria and proclaimed to them the Christ. 6 And the crowds with one accord paid attention to what was being said by Philip, when they heard him and saw the signs that he did. 7 For unclean spirits, crying out with a loud voice, came out of many who had them, and many who were paralyzed or lame were healed. 8 So there was much joy in that city.

They are scattered because an evil man named Saul we met last week has helped ratchet up the persecution. - he's ravaging the church, entering homes ...
