Staying the Course (8 of 13)
Series: Unstoppable - The Book of Acts

Acts 15
In Acts 15 we are going to see the church encounter a critical moment that had the potential to throw them from their message and mission. It even had the potential to ruin their fellowship.
To understand that conflict we are going to need to look at what brought the church to this point. I want to do a brief overview of the end of Ch. 11 and then Ch. 13 and 14.
What we are going to see this morning is the importance of staying focused in both the church and our personal lives and not getting thrown from what God is doing and has called us to do. As we seek to live on mission with Christ in the world... opportunities to get off course arise daily. -- We must guard against the temptation to get off course.
Acts 11:19- 26- Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews. 20 But there were some of them, men of Cyprus and Cyrene, who on coming to Antioch spoke to the Hellenists (Greeks) also, preaching the Lord Jesus. 21 And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed turned to the Lord. (Laser Focus)
Barnabas is sent and goes and checks out the work, goes and gets Paul from Tarsus and they come back. They dig in. The gospel is spreading among the Gentiles at this time.?
Acts 13:1-3- Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. (A diverse church) 2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, ''Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.'' 3 Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.
