A lot people have no interest in the gospel, the Bible, church, etc. because they think it doesn't have much to offer them in terms of being helpful. - They don't ''need it.''
Nothing is more practical than the gospel. - People tend to think about Christianity as something that is ''so heavenly minded it's not earthly good.'' - That's just not true.
First, off your greatest need is to be reconciled to the God of Heaven.
The gospel brings about the help in life we need most deeply. -- And as believers we have a responsibility to show and share that with others. --- The Gospel is HELPFUL.
We pick up in Acts 16- Paul and Barnabas have had a conflict and decided it would be best to separate. Paul's new teammate is Silas. Then in chapter 16 he gets a new recruit named Timothy. - Now Paul is traveling with Silas and Timothy. That's where we pick up...
Acts 16:6-10- And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. 7 And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. 8 So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, ''Come over to Macedonia and help us.'' 10 And when Paul had seen the vision, immediately we sought to go on into Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
Paul was one who was COMPELLED and DIRECTED on mission.
The Gospel compelled Paul to go make disciples. He would say in Romans 1 that he was under obligation to both Jew and Gentile. - He felt compelled.
The Spirit directed Paul in making disciples. He's going but he's sensitive to the Spirit's leading. The Holy Spirit leads, directs the people of God.
