CALLING OUT THE CALLED
ROMANS 1: 1, 6 & 7
JESUS CHRIST calls persons to Himself.
In our texts the word "called" translates the Greek KLETOS. It
means to summons. God has summonsed us to three things as noted
in the text.
I. HE HAS CALLED US TO SALVATION VS. 6
II. HE HAS CALLED US TO BE SAINTS VS. 7
"This is the will of God, your sanctification..." (I Thess. 4:
3a).
"May the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely..."
(I Thess. 5: 23).
"Saints," "sanctify," and "holy" all come from the same root
word, HAGIOS.
III. HE HAS CALLED US TO BE SERVANTS VS. 1
The servant role appointed Paul was that of an apostle.
Offices and ministries differ. Every Christian is in truth
called of God to special service. Some few are called to
minister in full-time church staff related ministries.
How does one determine if he or she is called?
A.First, the person must be GIFTED. None of us are worthy. Don't
defer in accepting God's call on the basis of not being worthy.
No one would ever be called if that were the basis.
At the time of the calling the gifts may be latent but they must
be developed.
Whether a person is gifted should not be left to the
determination of that person alone. It should be attested to
byobjective observers and not biased buddies.
