GOD AND GOVERNMENT:
DID OUR FOREFATHERS INTEND THEM TO BE DIVORCED?

JESUS CHRIST taught His followers to render unto Caesar what was
Caesar's and unto God that which is God's. Thus, He taught us to
respect the government and be loyal tax paying citizens.
Our predecessors, in creating this as "one nation under God,"
recognized the necessary alignment of God and government if
America was to survive. "What did he say?," comes the response.
I thought I heard him say they intended God and government
should be aligned. R I G H T !
"Well," comes the sophisticated retort, "how about the
separation of church and state issue?"
First, that expression is not in our Constitution as some
assume. A Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court said in 1958 that if
the Supreme Court kept talking about the separation of church
and state, the people would begin to think it is in our
Constitution. It isn't. From where did it come?
The Baptists in Banbury, Connecticut became concerned that the
Congregational Church would become the official church of the
state. They were fearful that if this happened they would be
persecuted like state churches had done their ancestors in
Europe where church/states and state/churches existed. In 1802,
they wrote Thomas Jefferson, who was not even a member of the
Constitutional Convention, expressing their concern.
