JESUS CHRIST is more than an historical figure. He wants to be
your ever-present friend, companion, and helper.
As an historical figure, He lived. He didn't just exist. His
life was full of vibrancy, joy, and love. Little children,
Roman centurions, the sick and crippled, blind beggars, rich
political leaders, the simple-minded, thieves and treasurers,
and those of their Supreme Court all saw in Him that quality of
life that attracted them to Him.
They all had one thing in common: an empty hope chest that had
been left barren by pretenders and profiteers.
As an historical figure, He died. He didn't just die, He
experienced the torturous death of crucifixion on a cross. It
was no ordinary death.
He didn't resist the nails, he almost invited them.
There was no anger in his eyes, only tears shed for others.
No curse of condemnation issued from His lips.
There was only the plea, "Father, forgive them ...."
