I John 1:8-9

When the nation of Israel came out of Egypt God told them to build a tabernacle where he would dwell among them and they would worship him. One of the pieces of furniture in the courtyard was the laver or wash basin which was looked like a bird bath.

There are no dimensions mentioned in Scripture, but it may have been 36 inches in diameter and sat on a pedestal about 18 inches high. Both the basin and stand were made of bronze from the bronze mirrors given by the women as a freewill offering for the building of the tabernacle (Exodus 38:8).
