INTRODUCTION: [You have heard or read the words: ''If God has brought you to it, He will see you through it.'' And He will but we may be surprised what God does and the way He does it...]

[note]> Think for a moment about the story we find here in [1 Kings 18:41-46]. For 3½ years it had not rained. For 3½ years, God shut up the heavens and not one drop of water fell to the ground. No dew was found.

.Because of this drought, the people suffered economically; physically; emotionally; and most of all, spiritually. You could say that they were down to nothing. The only hope the people had was for God to step in and open the windows of heaven and allow the rain to fall once again.

.In [18:41] we see a ray of hope: ''And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for THERE IS A SOUND OF ABUNDANCE OF RAIN.'' For the first time in 3½ years, there is the hope of rain. For the first time in 3½ years God lets his Prophet Elijah know that there is rain in the forecast. [God would see Elijah through this.]

*It was God who stopped the rain; it was God who was sending the rain...God was reminding Elijah that He was in control from the beginning to the end.

When Elijah gets conformation from the Lord that it's going to rain, he goes up to the top of Mount Carmel; he casts himself down to the ground; he puts his face between his knees, and he prays. I believe that he felt confident as he prayed because he had just prayed and watched God send fire down from heaven to destroy 450 prophets of Baal. I am convinced that Elijah believed that he could call upon God in any situation and God would move in a great way.

As he prayed, he sent a servant up to the mountain to see if there was any sign of a cloud or rain. The servant went to look toward the sea, thinking that he would see a sign of rain...but came back and told Elijah [18:42]- ''There is nothing.'' The only sign t ...
