2 Timothy 2: 8-13
The key word in this text is, ''endure.'' In verse 10, Paul says, ''I endure everything.'' In verse 12, he says, ''if we endure, we will reign with him.''
And that which is to be endured is suffering.
Specifically, various forms of hardship that that become a part of life as a result of being a faithful Christian.
The Apostle Paul is writing this letter to his friend, Timothy. It is from one pastor to another. And Paul is saying, throughout this letter, ''I endure suffering,'' ''now you must endure suffering.'' Listen to this note struck throughout the whole letter:

2:3 Share in suffering as a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
2:9 for which I am suffering, bound with chains as a criminal.

In 3:12, Paul says, ''all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.'' If you desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus, you will be persecuted.
What is persecution? Various forms hostility or negative treatment, from social scorn to physi ...
