Introduction

1. I say two words ''The Beatles'' and you know I am not talking about an invasion of insects. I am talking about the best-selling band in history, with over 600 million records sold world-wide. They ranked #1 on Billboard Magazine's list of the all-time most successful musical artists and they hold the record for the most #1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 with 20. Everybody has their favorite Beatle's song, but mine is one that you are very familiar with. It is not just because of the tune, but it is because of the lyrics. The message of this song will last as long as the human race. Listen and remember. [Play first three stanzas of song - Help!]

2. John Lennon wrote that song, but years later revealed something no one knew - not even the other Beatles. He said this,
''When 'Help!' came out I was actually crying out for help. Most people think it is just a fast, rock-'n'- roll song. I didn't realize it at the time; I just wrote the song because I was commissioned to write it for the movie. But later, I knew I really was crying out for help. So, it was my fat Elvis period. You see the movie: He-I-is very fat, very insecure, and he's completely lost himself and I am singing about when I was so much younger and all the rest, looking back at how easy it was.''

3. What John Lennon was both singing and saying is something that is true for all of us at different times in our life and that is we all need help. None of us are equipped to successfully deal with life alone. There is something I can count on every single Sunday I come to church. Someone is going to come up to me and ask for some kind of help. They need help either with a relational problem, or an emotional problem, or a spiritual problem.
