Matthew 5:17-20

[17] ''Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

INTRODUCTION and CONTEXT
We are one month into a study on Jesus' most famous sermon. The Sermon on the Mount.

Jesus began the sermon, by speaking in the 3rd person, ''Blessed are the poor in spirit...'' He made general statements about who is blessed in the Kingdom of God.

Then, he dropped into 2nd person, and addresses his disciples/followers, ''You are the salt of the earth.... You are the light of the world.''

Because Jesus is telling us the way things really are. The topic that Jesus addresses in this passage... Is actually the Bible itself... How to understand the Scriptures.

Right here in Matthew 5, Jesus gives us an interpretive key... For understanding everything in the Scriptures that has come before this moment (What we know as the OT) ... And everything in the Scriptures that will come after (What we call the NT).

There is more next week. This week is a little headier... But it is la ...
