SAMSON: CAN THE FALLEN RECOVER?
JUDGES 16: 21 - 31
JESUS CHRIST took a group of cop-outs and drop-outs and changed
them into individuals referred to as "those who turned their
world upside down." He can and does use cast-outs and
castaways.
One of the most colossal personal failures recorded in the Old
Testament was a giant of a man named Samson.
STORY OF HIS CONSORTING WITH DELILAH.
Thomas Edison reputedly performed 50,000 experiments before he
developed the storage battery. It is said he would come to the
dinner table with great enthusiasm and announce, "I had good
results. Now I know one more way it can't be done."
There is such a thing as "failing-forward."
I. DIVINE DISCIPLINE
GAL. 6: 7, 8 "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked..."
In Judges 16:20 Samson is seen reaping.
Two things led to his ultimate downfall. His own internal
personal stubborn self-will. Externally, the allurement of
Delilah.
Vs. 21: Samson's sin returned to haunt him. He had done what was
right in his own eyes. Now the Philistines gouged them out.
The strong man's humiliation resulted in him doing a woman's
work.
HEB. 12: 4 - 11 speaks of God's loving discipline.
