THE IMPLOSION OF AMERICA'S MORALS
ROMANS 1: 18 - 25

JESUS CHRIST was God revealed. Would you like to know how God
thinks? Listen to the words of Jesus. Would you like to know how
God feels about certain issues? Observe the actions of Christ.
Paul wrote: "I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ...For in
it the righteousness of God is revealed..."(Romans 1:16,17).
"The gospel is revealed." Gospel means good news. Not only does
our text say the gospel is revealed, note verse 18 which says,
"The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth
in unrighteousness."
"Wrath" is present tense, meaning it is NOW revealed. The reason
for so many of our personal and national problems is we are
living under the wrath of God. Why? Because of our "ungodliness
and unrighteousness." There is a future and final expression of
the wrath of God to come, but it has already begun. Though
present, it is quiet. There will come a day, as the Book of the
Revelation relates, when the wrath of God will be poured out
forcefully as with thunder, lightning, and fire. Presently it is
often unobservable or unidentified because it is inherent in sin
and corresponds to the sin.
This is such an unpopular theme it is seldom addressed and I
concede reluctance to do so. However, that in part is why our
circumstances are so acute. I know the wrath of mankind is
rained
down on those who dare to call sin sin. It always has been. That
is a primary technique for suppressing the truth.
