HOW TO BE A WINNING WIFE
I PETER 3: 1 - 6

JESUS CHRIST exhorted His followers to "love one another." The
closer we are one to another, the more essential it is that we
love one another. Only the characteristics of love can enable us
to live together in any kind of community congenially.
The closest proximity in which we live is called a family. In
the family circle, love is an essential because of the various
roles and responsibilities we have therein.
Summarily, the traits of love are listed in I Cor. 13: 4 - 7

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy;
love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
does not behave rudely, does not seek its own,
is not provoked, thinks no evil;
does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
bears all things, believes all things,
hopes all things, endures all things.

There are basically three offices in a family: the husband, the
wife, and the child. This is the first of three messages on
these varied roles. In pastoral counseling I find in different
marriages violations of responsibility. Perhaps the most severe
abuse is by the husband who uses the Bible to beat his wife and
children. This insecure man seems to know only one verse which
is I Peter 3:1, "Likewise you wives, be submissive to your
husbands..."
