THE PURPOSE OF YOUR PERSONAL TRIBULATION

JESUS CHRIST said, "These things have I spoken unto you, that in
Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation;
but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" (John 16:33).
Today many respond, "Talk to me about tribulation, Jesus. That I
can understand." If you have any troubles you can understand
the passage which we are about to apply.
Many in our culture are experiencing economic hardship. Economic
recession and associated unemployment and underemployment is
causing great difficulties.
Desert Storm has separated many families and created anxiety
regarding the welfare of loved ones.
As the Christian community continues to shrink into a minority,
social pressures are being legislated that conflict with
Biblically-based beliefs. Educational materials have not only
been bleached of concepts acceptable to believers, they have
been stained by new age and/or secular humanistic philosophy
that devalue Christian concepts. Thus, Christian youth are often
discriminated against and their beliefs ridiculed.
The entertainment media has basically become a moral cesspool
intent on degrading Christian morality and debasing individual
Christians.
Interpersonal conflicts resulting from unresolved hostility
cause some persons to turn with a vengeance on former friends.
Trouble tends to wear us down and takes the zest out of life and
produces discouragement. We even get to the point we expect
trouble as inevitable and when we don't have it, become guilty
and uncomfortably tense.
