SEEK FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD

JESUS CHRIST spoke realistically of our ambitions and
aspirations. In doing so, He exhorted us to have a goal in life.
He, knowing our nature and needs, also knew admirable and
injurious goals. Desiring our best, He designed for us the best
goal. Therefore, He exhorted us to seek first the kingdom of
God. Wait, that's not all. He added "and His righteousness."
Want a challenge? Mentally come along with me these next few
minutes and consider one worthy of your best with uninhibited
gratification and satisfaction resulting.
Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, "The greatest thing in this
world is not so much where we stand as in what direction we are
moving."
Is your life like a rocket out of control? It is moving, and
moving fast, but in erratic routes with no specific objective in
life.
Is your life characterized by the line regarding the old cowboy
actor who was described as hopping on his horse and riding off
in all directions?
One of the greatest pleasures of life is pleasing someone we
want to please; someone we have chosen as worthy of being
pleased. Who this is varies from person to person.
As a satisfied customer, let me commend Jesus Christ as an
audience of one worthy of being your prime person to be pleased.
In the same chapter of Matthew as our text Jesus said, "The lamp
of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your
whole body will be full of light" (Matt. 6: 22).
In the Greek text this is literally an appeal to be one-eyed.
That is a term meaning, be single-minded.
