In the annals of American history there have been few times like
those of recent years. A parallel exists between the bravery and
dedication of our military families and their extended support
families and those of our ancestors who forged, fostered, and
fought for our Declaration of Independence.
Our nation was given birth when on July 4th, 1776, in
Philadelphia, our nation's Declaration of Independence was
signed.
In declaring their independence from Great Britain, they also
declared their dependence upon God. It concludes with these
words:
"WITH A FIRM RELIANCE ON THE PROTECTION OF DIVINE
PROVIDENCE, WE MUTUALLY PLEDGE TO EACH OTHER
OUR LIVES, OUR FORTUNES, AND OUR SACRED HONOR."
Again in 1990 and 1991, we the people came closer than at any
time in our modern history to collectively confirming that
statement.
Theodore Roosevelt said, "Americanism means the virtues of
courage, honor, justice, truth, sincerity and hardihood - - -
virtues that made America great.
The things that will destroy America are
prosperity-at-any-price, safety first instead of duty first,
the love of soft living and the get-rich-quick theory of life."
There were those doomsayers who, prior to Operation Desert
Storm, predicted America had already succumbed to these lethal
fixes. Be assured they are a perpetual threat, but be confident
they have not yet destroyed us.
