Lessons for Life

Matthew 26:26-28, 1 Corinthians 11:23-32
Any serious reading of the life and teachings of Jesus Christ reveal that He came to teach us lessons for life (or longer). The traditionalist of the Old Testament law (we call them legalist) were the very ones that Jesus had trouble with (in fact, the religionist legalists were the one who ultimately had Jesus put to death). It was the church going people. Why do I say that? Well, because it is true. The traditionalist did not want to learn what Jesus was teaching, did not get what Jesus was giving, and ultimately did not want what Jesus was offering. They were content to hang on to their past, die in what they thought they knew, and in the process, missed Jesus.
Jesus left heaven and came to earth to bring us the ''NEW''. Think about it; He offers us a new life, a new heart, a new way, a new walk, and a new destination, and He does it through the NEW COVENANT. He didn't come to leave us like He found us, but to change us into something new.
Paul writes about this in 2 Corinthians when he says, ''If anyone is in Christ, He is a NEW creation.'' How good is that. When we become a new creation, 'old things are passed and behold, all things are NEW.'' I will offer this, ''New stuff'' inside the church seems to bother people, but Jesus brings the new. And when a church becomes what Jesus died for her to become, IT ALL BECOMES NEW, from the inside out. That church will have new people who will offer a new spirit who will go to new links to reach more new people. It's a concentric circle.
At every stop along the way, if we will listen with our spirits, Jesus will continue teaching us lessons for life. This is what He did to and for the disciples. They were forever learning something new. For instance, they thought He was going to setup His Kingdom on earth, yet every time they pushed Him on it, He pointed to His father.
