Easter is a time when people turn their attention to Jesus Christ and His resurrection. For millions of people, Jesus' resurrection offers hope of life after death. But this Easter is unique because it falls on April 1 of this year - the same time April Fools day is celebrated. It's rare that these two fall on the same day, as it hasn't happened since 1956. But many will think the two holidays celebrate the same thing: fools. Some think Easter is foolish because nothing happens after we die. When we die, we die. Yet, for many others, life after death offers a wide variety of options. Even when the gospel spread from Jerusalem to the ancient city of Corinth, nearly 2,000 miles away and 20 years after the resurrection of Jesus, even people inside the church had trouble believing in the dead rising: ''...how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead'' (1 Corinthians 15:12b)?

Historians tell us that life after death was a strong motivator for many people down through the ages. Look at The Pyramids of Egypt with me. One of the greatest artifacts to a belief in the afterlife is the Great Pyramids in Egypt. The tallest man-made structure in the world for nearly 4,000 years, were built to hold the mummified remains of a pharaoh named Khufu. Built around 2500 BC, the pyramids are the last remaining standing structures of the original 7 Wonders of the World. These 2.3 million stone blocks weighing in anywhere between 2.5 and 15 tons each, were constructed because it was thought the Egyptian pharaohs were to become gods in the afterlife. If you visit there today, you'll see the pyramids guarded by the Sphinx, supposedly guarding the pyramids themselves. Even the Sphinx is thought to guard against evil spirits.
