JESUS CHRIST, the Prince of Peace, said "My peace I give unto
you..." To be a peacemaker, is to be a Christ emulator.
Peacemakers bridge estranged relations. Christ's primary
mission was to bridge the greatest gulf of estrangement. "There
is one mediator between God and man..."
I. P R O M I S E
Peacemakers are happy people. Christ promised they would be--
"Blessed..." Happiness is a by-product of a job well done.
Tolstoy: "Man is meant for happiness and this happiness is in
him." Happiness is often spoken of as coming into our lives.
It actually comes out of our lives.
General Sherman: "Cobb County is too beautiful..." AND "War is
hell." Many persons seem to be living in a living hell because
they do not have the peace Christ promised. H.G. Wells
character in "The History of Mr. Polly: "He was not so much a
person as a civil war." Middle-aged woman, "I fell like a
committee that is always quarreling." "I made myself a god and
my god let me down." - Young man. Such persons have no
happiness because they have no peace and therefore cannot live
as peacemakers.
II. C H A R A C T E R
Peacemaker = The establishment of concord and content between
persons.
Mankind's peace efforts have been failures. Washington, D.C.
has many peace monuments. That is because we build one after
every war.
Do you know that in the 200 plus year history of America there
has never been a generation that did not know war; never a
generation that had only peace.
