Fulfilled in Jesus (2 of 5)
Series: Promise One

Luke 24:44
Here is the broad brush of God's plan for humankind as revealed in the Scriptures. ALL THAT WAS WRITTEN in the Old Testament points to the coming of the Messiah, and all that is written after the birth of Jesus reveals the fulfillment of all that was written before. So, when we study the Old Testament, we must see it through the lens of what Jesus fulfilled in the New Testament.
Last week our main scripture was in Luke 24, when Jesus appeared to the 2 men on the road to Emmaus and to His disciples and others after He rose from the dead. Knowing that He would ascend to the right hand of the Father, it was there that Jesus pointed them to the word, that they wouldn't have to look for Him too far, for they would find Him in the Scriptures.
Luke 24:44 Then He said to them, ''These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me.'' 45 And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.
The first 5 books are the Torah or Pentateuch which are:
- Genesis
- Exodus
- Leviticus
- Numbers
- Deuteronomy
Then Jesus also said He was revealed in the Psalms and in the Prophets, which are:
- Isaiah
- Jeremiah
- Lamentations
- Ezekiel
- Daniel
- Hosea
- Joel
- Amos
- Obadiah
- Jonah
- Micah
- Nahum
- Habakkuk
- Zephaniah
- Haggai
- Zechariah
- Malachi

This cannot have been made up. The Bible is about Jesus from cover to cover. He is pictured or prophesied in all 66 books! If we took every one of these books and talked in detail about how Jesus is revealed in them, we would be here for days. Let's look at 2 things: Genesis and the law of Moses as revealed in Exodus and Leviticus.
