Isaiah 7:14
The greatest story that's ever been told. It's the story of JESUS - the Son of God, and God, the Son. He came from the place He has occupied with the Father from eternity past and was born of a virgin named Mary. He wasn't born of a human father. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, so that He would be called the Son of God. This is the great mystery - that God was manifest in the flesh. This is known as the incarnation of God. God in human flesh. He took on human flesh. The Babe wrapped in swaddling clothes was God wrapped in human flesh. What a GIFT to the world!
Some people might say, ''why couldn't God have just appeared to humankind and shown them a way of salvation? Why didn't God make it easier? Why did it have to be so brutal with Jesus having to die on a bloody cross? Here is why.
Humankind was SEPARATED from God. This separateness was caused by SIN. There was a great gulf between the Holy God and sinful man. We were all living in an impending doom state because this separation between us and God would ultimately lead to an eternity separated from Him.
The way had to be made.
Isaiah 59:2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.
GOD SENT HIS SON. The GREAT DIVIDE has been bridged. We have been RECONCILED back to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Today we want to center in on the scriptures that tell the story of Jesus coming 2000 years on that first Christmas.
Lessons we learn from the true Christmas story:
A. Nothing is impossible with God.
Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.
Luke 1:26 Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, 27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house ...
