What to Do When You Find Yourself under the Circumstances

Sometimes we find ourselves with the ''short end of the stick.'' This is when the odds are stacked against us and it doesn't look like we have a chance. In today's text we find Jehoshaphat in just such a place. The Moabites, Ammonites, and all their allies had come to wage war against Israel and the king knew there was no way the Jews could be victorious.
Scripture teaches us that nothing is too big or too small for us to pray about. However, when the odds are really stacked against us we should probably pray a little differently then we normally do. Look at how Jehoshaphat prayed when nothing but God's help would do.
AS HE PRAYED JEHOSHAPHAT REMINDED HIMSELF OF WHO GOD IS (v. 6):
6 and said: ''O Lord God of our fathers, are You not God in heaven, and do You not rule over all the kingdoms of the nations, and in Your hand is there not power and might, so that no one is able to withstand You?
When problems appear to be beyond our control we should remind ourselves that God is bigger than our problems. Isn't this what David did when facing a 10 ft. tall giant?
1 Samuel 17:42-45
42 And when the Philistine looked about and saw
David, he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking.
43 So the Philistine said to David, ''Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?'' And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 And the Philistine said to David, ''Come to me, and I will give your flesh to the birds of the air and the beasts of the field!''
45 Then David said to the Philistine, ''You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
