Through It All
Jerry Watts
Matthew 14:22-33
Andréa Crouch is absolutely one of my favorite song writers. I was sad when he passed away in 2015. He wrote songs of testimony from, about and touched the heart. ''The Blood Will Never Lose its Power'', ''MY Tribute (To God be the Glory)'', ''I Don't know Why Jesus Loved'', and ''Bless His Holy Name'' are but a few among the dozens of loved songs that he wrote. In 1972, the Oak Ridge Boys release a 'record (remember those)' entitled ''Light.'' At least 3 of the 10 songs on that album came from the hand of Andrea. The one that I'm thinking of today is ''Through It all.''
I've had many tears and sorrows, I've had questions for tomorrow, there's been times I didn't know right from wrong.?But in every situation, God gave me blessed consolation, that my trials come to only make me strong.
Last week we said good-bye to your Pastor. And we did so with him leaving much more quickly than any would have thought. I know that we felt like we had a word from God about calling him (which I still believe to be in God's plan), but we find ourselves today faced with a struggle?
If you are like me, either personally or collective you have pondered issues like: ''Did we (I) misunderstand?'' ''Did we (I) miss God?'' or even, ''Why does this happen to me?''
We need this message today that I have called, ''Through it all.'' A careful reading of God's word reveals to us truths about this that we, as Americans, have difficulty understanding. Sadly, the theology in the ''land of the free'' seems to be ''If I follow God, life will be easier.'' While we would like it to be that way, it wasn't for Job, David, Daniel, three Hebrews boys, Peter, Paul, and the rest. Candidly, it seems that God both places and allows difficulty into our lives for the purpose of testing our commitment to Him and, in the process, He matures our love for Him. (TEXT call)
