WHY GIVE?

JESUS CHRIST "God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son..."
Out of hearts of gratitude we should give, in the name of God,
because of our love for Him.
I delight to give in Christ's name. Therefore, I want to share
my testimony as to why I give. In doing so, I urge you to check
yourself off on each point and evaluate your response. I give":
I. TO SUPPORT THE WORK OF THE GOSPEL (Romans 10: 14, 15)
I am a sender. Recently our Southern Baptist missionaries in
Kenya saw a mighty movement of revival in which 58,000 people
were saved. A part of every dollar given to this church goes to
send people to others.
One old man there prayed to receive Jesus and then said, "I have
been praying someone would come tell me about Jesus. Missionary,
why have you waited so long to come?"
Why are we so reluctant to give that others might be sent? How
many old men and women have been kept waiting because we have
been reluctant to give?
II. TO HELP THOSE IN NEED (Ephesians 4:28 & I John 3: 17, 18)
Let the Scripture speak for itself.
III. TO DEVELOP FAITH IN GOD'S SUPPLY (Luke 6: 38)
Jesus said, "Give and it shall be given unto you..." If I am
reluctant to let go of what I have, it implies I don't trust God
to supply what I need. It is a demonstration of faith. The more
I give and the more He gives, the more confident I am of Him.
Whether I give or not indicates whether or not I believe
II Cor. 9: 6 & 8.
