THERE IS SATISFACTION INHERENT IN GIVING
II CORINTHIANS 8: 10 - 15
(PAGE 1694 COME ALIVE BIBLE)
JESUS CHRIST said, "It is more blessed to give than to receive"
(Acts 20: 35).
This is the forgotten Beatitude. The Greek word translated
"blessed" is MAKARIOS. It can also be translated "Happy" or
"happiness." It literally means, "There is more happiness in
giving than in receiving."
The text says, "remember." This is the only earthly quote of
Jesus not found in the four gospels. This indicates it was a
well known statement. It is today. Though we try to crowd it
from our minds, it still arrests our attention.
The failure of every selfish, earthly pleasure to satisfy the
human soul and the guilt resulting from self-indulgence confirms
"It is more blessed to give than to receive."
Even as a child that text struck me with great interest. I knew
what a blessing it was to receive. Even a superficial
observation of the statement reveals Jesus didn't hint that it
wasn't a blessing to receive. Don't you enjoy receiving?
The blessing of receiving is well understood. However, Jesus
said it is more blessed to give. Few fully experience this
blessing.

that in getting you don't receive, but in giving you both give
and receive. You receive the joy, happiness, and thrill of
sharing with another.
Don't limit this concept to giving of money only. The giv ...
