Today's message, I want to be free of RESENTMENT. Is there anyone in your life you feel resentful toward?

Illus. idea. Nancy and I have moved 17 times in our lives. We have trucked some of the stuff we have all around the world and back. There finally came a time when we left Philadelphia before moving here that Nancy put her foot down and said David we need to get rid of some stuff and sort. Wow that was difficult, because there were many things that had emotional value to them. Things I hadn't looked at or touched in years but I didn't want to get rid of them.
I was just emotionally attached to them!

Q: Is there anything you're attached to that you really need to get rid of?

We get attached to emotions like anger and resentment.
Don't want to, but tend to store them up in our heart.
There they can sit on the shelf for years.
We know we should get rid of them...but something in us is attached.
And resentment seems to pile up.

Today I'm hoping some of you will clean out the closet of your heart.
Things that you are emotionally tied to that you have been holding on to for a long time.

Life is not fair! We all experience hurts and disappointments when walking through life!
Those hurts if not dealt with produce resentment!

Definition of Resentment:
A sense of bitterness and anger that you feel towards someone or something!
It is because you think they've treated you unfairly.

Resentment is part of the process towards hatred.
It goes from Anger to Unforgiveness to resentment and finally to hatred.

Anger - Unforgiveness -Resentment - Hatred

Resentment thrives on negative feelings and grows more powerful when we are unwilling to forgive.
It grows in the recesses of your heart when you ruminate over the negative experience and you become more resentful and angry.
These negative feelings can manifest themselves in physical pain and disease!
