Tonight we're coming next in the book to Genesis, chapter 9. And, if you were here last time, you'll remember we started talking about Noah's shipwreck. I showed you a story last time about my Dad sharing a sermon years ago about getting home before dark. I remember hearing him share that sermon many, many times growing up there at First Baptist Church Milan, and when we would preach out in local churches in the area.

Basically it was the story of when he was growing up; he would go out to play in the afternoon. And his Mother would holler at him, ''Whatever you do, make sure that you make it home before dark.'' The sad thing that we discover when we come here to Genesis, chapter 9, is that sadly Noah did not make it home before dark.

Last time we were together, if you'll remember, we began talking about Noah's shameful tragedy. The bible says down there; if you're in Genesis 9, look down in verse 18. If you find your place there, say amen. The bible says, ''Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. And Ham was the father of Canaan. These three were the sons of Noah, and from these the whole Earth was populated.''

When you begin to come to Genesis 9, beginning in verse 18, you were introduced, really, to the main characters of this section of the story of Noah. Hey by the way, as brother Tommy mentioned earlier, tonight the plan is, if you all with listen fast enough, we're going to be done with Noah tonight. We're going to begin to move into the Tower of Babel, move over into the Abrahamic covenant, begin to talk about Isaac and Jacob and Joseph and all those folks as we continue and really begin to take larger sections of the book of Genesis. I know that pleases some of you.
